Cadfael Companion: The World of Brother Cadfael Hardcover – 10 Oct. 1991

This is not really a stand alone book to be read by itself. It is a complete guide to all the people and places that are mentioned in the Brother Cadfael book series.Accordingly it is a valuable tool to have at hand when reading the individual books of the series. I suppose you could dip in and out of it at random if you wished, but it is chiefly there as an encyclopedia of definitions.It is a substantial hardback book with many detailed pages and is extraordinary value for money at the now reduced price found for second hand copies. Well worth adding to your collection.

I first saw the great Sir Derek Jacobi playing Cadfael and was very quickly hooked on the stories. When I found out that they only made about 13 of the books in to tv shows I searched out copies of all the stories and bought all the omnibus editions from Amazon. Found this when I was searching for a different book and thought why not give it a go. I bought a second hand copy and have found the book delightful either to look up things that come up during the stories or even just to dip into at random. A must for any Cadfael fans.

Fascinating to know the truth behind so much history because you can get drawn in to almost believing everything that 'Cadfael. does. a great read.

A really interesting book! Everything that you could possibly want to know about the characters mentioned in any of the characters mentioned in the Cadfael stories is here. Hours of interesting reading. This copy was second hand but the copy I received was in excellent condition.

Ideal for anyone who has read (or plans to read) the chronicles of Brother Cadfael, this book provides comprehensive information on characters (real and fictional) and places -- including, in many cases, modern place names. The front includes a variety of maps of Cadfael's world. The rest is arranged alphabetically by entry title, making it easy to look up a person or place and get more information.

本は装丁も美しく見事だけれど、原本の地図、語彙集、はそのままで、辞典の体裁でA to　Zまであるが、内容が貧弱。コンパニオンブックとしては不足。また、手じかにおいて参照するには大きすぎ、原本を見ればいい。

I bought this book to give away to a devoted Ellis Peters fan. For a used book it was fine, in as good condition as what's on the shelf in most bookstores. I can only judge the content by the intense use it is getting, and the many times my friend mentions how much he appreciates what it adds to his enjoyment and understanding of the Cadfael books.

Superb, amazingly referenced, and informative as well of characters' region(s) beyond what we may suppose - and fun! Makes me smile every time I glance its way. Permanent resident on bookshelf with the omnibuses of Cadfael stories. And, lol, it provides a kindly segue back to reality when faced with no more of our beloved characters.
