Fun, quick game! Everyone I've introduced has liked this game :)
Love Letter is fun and easy to pick up :) It's been a big hit with casual and hardcore gamers.Games last 5-10 minutes. It's a great filler for board game meetups while waiting for everyone to arrive so you can play the "main" (longer) game. I do have a friend that loves Love Letter and wants to play it over and over again until we all refuse to play another hand LOL. However, with such a small deck, you can figure out the main strategies fairly quickly so when you play over and over again you will see the same scenarios. For people that are more strategic, they are able to determine the odds of the other cards and be more successful at winning. With mixed groups, this can cause the casual gamers to get a bit frustrated. So it's best to just play 7 hands maximum and then move on to another activity or game :)Love Letter can be played with 2 people, we play it plenty at home, but it's nice to have more people so that it's a little bit harder to know who has what cards. The player limit if 4, but we've played with 5 and not had any problems--just be aware that there will be less rounds since there are less cards in the draw pile. The object of the game is to have the highest card when the game ends. Card values are 1-8. Each card has a special action or rule. For example:The 1 card (Solider) is the most common and lets you guess what card an opponent is holding. If you are correct, they are out.The 8 card (Princess) is the highest card. However, if you discard the Princess you're out! This can happen if someone plays a card that forces you to discard your hand.I picked this version because the cartoon version had a clown which looked really creepy LOL. The drawings on these cards are very detailed and well-drawn. There are other versions now with Batman themes and for fans of Munchkins a version called Loot Letter.

Terrific Small Game, Portable, Well-Priced, Beautiful
Gosh, first, this is a FANTASTIC game. Ten minutes long, if that. Incredibly simple rules, if you can play Uno or Go Fish, you can understand this. But the magic is in the figuring out what the opponents have based on their actions and what's left. Like the matching game with a little more deductive reasoning.Long story short, EVERYONE should own this game, especially with younger kids, teaching them nice logic problems.Plus it's only ever $10 or less. The box is high quality and cute, but inside everything is already in it's soft velvet, embroidered bag, green and gold, with the handful of cards and a baggie of wooden cubes for keeping track of rounds won. The BEST portable game, throw it in a pocket. For what it's worth, I really like this version better than the tudor/English themed one. The original game design is Japanese (apart of a somewhat recent "mini game" movement that started there, for your trivia), and I just like samurai and stuff. The art is BEAUTIFUL, as expected, the cards with the nice feeling texture, and all the easy rules/character uses are printed clearly on each card and the cheat card.Works as well for 2 players as it does for 3 or 4, and really it wouldn't be that great for any more than that, so my only complaint about not being for more players is kind of moot. With more players, you can always rotate in, since rounds are a few minutes long, and you can just have the winner be the one with most points after everyone rotates in/out a certain number of times. If you want a game like this for more players, Skull (previously Skulls and Roses) would be your go to.Shipped perfectly combined with some other items.

So quick and fun
I really enjoy this game. It's small enough and quick enough to use as a travel/waiting game, and stores in a cool little velvety pouch for travel. It comes with wooden tokens as point counters. Even the instructions are in a nicely produced little booklet that fits neatly in the pouch for travel. I appreciate the attention to detail that went into making this game! Each round takes only a few minutes, and combines strategy, reasoning and luck. This is a worthwhile game for adult game enthusiasts, but simple enough to teach the kids. (I will note that this is significantly more fun with 3 or more players, thank with 2, although it can be used as a two-player game.)This is the Legend of the Five Rings edition, which is an ancient Japan theme, more or less, but plays the same, and has the same essential story line, as the regular, medieval castle-themed edition. I've seen them both, and both editions are attractive and include high quality art. I settled on this one as a gift for my husband who is an L5R fan, but it really just comes down to which theme and aesthetic you prefer.

One of the best game purchases I have ever made.
This game has provided HOURS of fun for our family, which is saying a lot for a 10-15 minute game. I bought the original Love Letter to play with my husband and setp-daughter (age 11), and it is one of our most-played games. I brought it to my brother's house to play with my nephews and niece (ages 10, 9, and 5) and they fell in love with it and begged me to leave it there. Instead, I bought them this version. Now when I go visit, I can barely get through the door before they bring this out and insist on playing at least an hour - last time they met me in the door with cards in hand. The boys like the samurai-themed characters more than the traditional characters (they said they are not as "girly"). My niece is 5 and she and I usually play on a "team" so we can discuss the strategy of which card to play when. Plenty of people have provided game-play breakdown, so I won't go into that here. But I will say that of all the hundreds of dollars I have spent on games for the kids, this one is their favorite. If you are on the fence, GET IT!

I got bored of it after a week
I got bored of it after a week, the bag the cards come in is cool also the tokens, the cards also have nice designs, but overall the game is boring, i also bought "coup" which is also a similar card game but a lot more fun!

Excellent jeu
