Compact and durable
I used this for the first time last weekend in Gettysburg, PA. We had 4 people plus equipment packed into my Jeep Patriot for the drive. The grill is 24"x 1 or 1 1/2" when the legs are folded in for storage. It was easy to pack in with all of the other equipment. I was worried about the heat of the fire to warping the grill. We did not have a blazing fire, but at times when we would add a log the flame would kick up. I do not recommend keeping it over the fire when you are done cooking and add 3 to 4 logs on it at one time. Overall I was completely happy with the purchase and recommend it to anyone who enjoys cooking over a fire. On a side note, the legs stayed cool so when it was time to remove the grill, it was easy to pick it up and move it off.Buying points:1. Compact, easy to take with you and put anywhere in your car.2. Durable to cooking with different heat sources (wood logs & charcoal).3. (For me) The legs stayed cool and in place the entire time over the fire. We had a pit and the legs were not in contact with the fire but were in contact with the heat. Also: Keep the box, that way in case your grill is not perfectly clean when you put it back in your car the next day you have a storage box to keep your car clean.I only gave it four stars because it preformed well the first time, I will update it to five at the end of the season as long as it keeps the 3 buying points.(Update)- The grill works as well the first season as it did the other seasons. The box is still my storage unit and it has not broken apart yet. The grill looks as it did the day I opened it out of the box. Worth the money to spend and you will have it a long time.

Sturdy
Better than a bbq pit in my opinion. Easy to move and store.

Great Purchase!
I like that I can use the legs or keep them folded. It easily fits the firepits I used this in, even leaving enough room for the fire to burn with this sitting to the side of the pit where I like to push the coals when I cook on it. I have warmed food in foil, cooked with my pans on it & boiled water very quickly in a coffee pot. It is a great grate! I will likely purchase another to keep outside the the firepit to place items on use it more for a table to access cooking utensils, place pots on, but not on the fire. It is easy to clean & folds back up after cooled down.

Additional space!
I needed something to give me some extra space in my converted grill (converted a gas grill to charcoal). This is perfect. Plenty big and high enough to get pans or food under to allow for dual level cooking. Heavy duty too!

Saved the day!
I bought this grill at the last minute before a camping trip so we could cook in foil packets over the fire. Thank goodness I bought it! Our camp stove went out the first day of the trip and we had to cook ALL our food on the grill over the fire. And it worked perfectly! As other reviewers pointed out, the paint does melt off immediately so DO cover it with tinfoil if you plan to put meats or other foods directly on it. I covered it with foil when placing pots on it to make the heat a little more even. We cooked spaghetti, sausage, hashbrowns, eggs, toast, and a few other things right on this handy little grill. This is now an indispensable piece of our camping gear. It's perfect for foil pack cooking and serves as an easy-to-pack backup plan incase your stove or BBQ fails. There was some warping of the metal mesh, but nothing too bad considering we had this over a pretty good fire most of the weekend. We did take it off the fire when not cooking, but it was used for two meals a day for two days and one meal the final day with only minor warping. It still folded up nicely and went back in the box afterwards. You might want to bring a small BBQ brush or scrubber to knock the ash, loose paint, and other dirt off before putting back in the box. We had one on hand and I'm glad we did.LOVE this little thing. I recommend it to all my camping friends now even if only as an emergency tool.

heavy duty but the paint is an issue.
this is a nice a grill.heavy duty and should last a while. I got the smaller size so i could tie it to my bag and hike with it but it is a little heavy, however if you want a good durable grill, it's going to have a little weight to it. I couldn't give this 5 stars because of the paint. I knew I would have to burn it off before putting food on it, but this has a lot of paint and it doesn't burn off so easy. the paint turns to goo and it doesn't just scrape off. it's like tar when it starts to melt. so you have make a large, hot fire and just let it roast for a while to get all the paint off. then it's ready to cook but now you have to worry about it rusting since it has no protection. I think I will spray it with some high heat paint(not on the top were i cook obviously)to protect it. but you shouldn't have to go through all that to use this product. so it is a great grill but there is some work involved to get the manufacturer paint off and then to maybe recoat it with something to protect the metal from rusting.

Good deal
This is one of my favorite camping purchases this year. It saved us from washing MANY dishes while out in the wild and made cooking more enjoyable. Super easy to set up and clean, food may stick a little but not too bad. Definitely a good purchase

Flip it upside down, start a hot fire, and burn the paint off first.
Hi all. I usually don't write reviews on all the products I get from Amazon. The reason I'm writing this is because I read a lot of the reviews for this product, and I was on the fence.Let me start by saying. We needed this rack. We're going through renovations. We won't have a kitchen for 2 weeks. As you can see from the picture, I have a little outdoor stove, and a bunch of cast iron pots and pans. We needed a grill rack to cook food on.I read all the negative reviews first. With negative reviews, you always look for common issues. Most of them were saying how there's paint on the rack, and how you can't cook on the surface directly.I started the fire. Took the grill out of the packaging and immediately put it on the fire, upside down. Left it alone for a good 30 mins. It burnt off all the paint. There was Zero warping. I check the temperature of the fire using my thermometer gun. It reached over 500 degrees. It burnt off all the oil and whatever else is on it. After 30 mins, I took it off and scrubbed it clean with a metal brush, like you'd scrub a bbq grill rack before use.As you can see from the pictures. The steak cooked perfectly, there was no weird residue or anything. I highly recommend this rack for all your camping and grilling needs. Does not warp. You need to burn it clean before first use, and enjoy it.
