Q: Will this work with Ubuntu/Linux?

It will work but its a pain on Linux. This NIC has no factory Linux support. You can get it to work however but it will take time and you will need to use driver built off one of there ac88u WiFi router which has the same chipset. I know this is old but just in case someone down the line wonders if its native out of the box support as of Oct. 2017 the drivers for this have been abandoned so your only choice is solutions made by community members. The solution worked flawless for me but others report problems.

Q: Will this work with a USB 2.0 port?

Yes this devise will work on a USB 2.0 port. But as with any legacy device, your transfer speeds will be reduced due to USB 2.0 being a slower input/output channel than USB 3.0.

Q: Is this compatible with OSX 10.10 Yosemite. if not, can you make any recommendations ?

Q: Does this work in both bands with Windows 8.1?

Yes. I'm currently using Win 8.1 with all updates and everything is fine on 2.4 and 5 Ghz. Personal note...Don't forget to use the "WLAN" control center software that came with the dongle. It simplifies things. Also, my router is the Asus AC1900. Pricey but, worth every penny. It's a home network beast. It is able to broadcast on both bands at the same time. I had another router that said it worked on both bands. Sadly, not at the same time. Make sure your router can deliver whatever your looking for.
