Great value! For me this mouse has been trouble-free in both Windows and OS X.
I'm actually pretty surprised with how well this thing works, especially considering it's a bluetooth laser mouse for around $20! I use my laptop as a desktop replacement, a portable computer and even as my work computer at the office. I wanted a portable wireless solution for both my keyboard and mouse, but I didn't want to sacrifice one of my precious USB ports (my computer only has two and I don't want to use a hub), which means my only option was to go the bluetooth route. The only reason I was compelled to pick this one is because bluetooth options for mice are surprisingly limited. I use a MacBook Pro but I didn't really want to spend the money for an Apple branded "magic mouse" (which I find to be a bit uncomfortable to handle) and other high price options didn't appear to be well received by consumers, so I gambled on this cheapie. After pouring through the reviews it seems like this mouse is either a hit or a miss. Many of the one-star reviews complain about connection problems, lag, etc which means there might be some quality control issues. Thankfully I got one of the good ones because I haven't had a single problem yet. Most cheap mice feel cheap and have poorly designed wheels which make scrolling a chore. This mouse actually has a nice feel to it and the wheel feels very smooth and accurate. I haven't done any extensive testing but it has worked perfectly fine on the surfaces I do use it on, namely both my home and work desk without a mousepad. The shape contours nicely with my hand. If I didn't know the price of this then I would guess it to be a $50 mouse, easily. I haven't had a single issue with my mouse pointer zinging off screen, or anything like that (a common problem with cheap mice in my experience). The only (extremely nit-picky) thing I've noticed is if I don't handle the mouse for a few minutes and then I go back to using it there is sometimes a very slight half-second delay, but after this very short initial delay everything goes back to normal. I just chalk that up to the nature of bluetooth, thankfully the delay goes away immediately and after such I notice no lag or delays. For me this is a great every day mouse perfect for the office and the road. Although I don't notice any lag (except that tiny delay mentioned above) I would say it's probably not the best mouse for something where precision is absolutely paramount, like gaming - not because I notice a difference (I do light gaming with it), but because more hardcore gamers are probably more sensitive to absolute precision than I am. I read one critical review online from a reputable magazine that said this mouse doesn't work for Mac but that is not true. I use it in OS X and Windows just fine. I haven't yet tested it on my Linux box, so I can't confirm if it works or not there. Overall a great value!

Reprieve For a Maligned Mouse.
__I purchased this mouse for my wife's new HP-11 Chromebook, which is Bluetooth-enabled. I checked all the mouse features -(battery activation, connectivity button) and enabled Bluetooth on the Chromebook. the computer was unable to acquire the device, even after a half-hour of "searching". I repeated the entire sequence; same result. The mouse light indicates it is functional. The only recommendation that the HP "help" forum was able to offer, was that I "power wash" the computer and try again. Power washing involves downloading a program which cleans out temp files and other clutter resulting from downloads, etc -sinmilar to the disk optimizer on Windows-based O.S. The Chromebook is new, so obviously, pwer washing isn't the answer. For some reason HP seems unable to explain, these two products are not compatible. I have asked for (and received) a return authorization for the mouse, from Amazon. UPDATE: My original rating gave the HP mouse two stars, because "it didn't work". And for the HP Chromebook, it won't -at least, not for now. Getting information from HP support [sic] however, is akin to hitting your head against a wall: It is so satisfying when you cease the activity. Posted there: "I purchased from Amazon, the HP-X4000b Bluetooth mouse for my wife's HP-11 Chromebook; enabled Bluetooth, checked all the mouse features and the computer still cannot find the device, after extensive "searching". I repeated the entire process; same result. The mouse indicates it is functional." __Two responses. One was an explanation of company policy, but didn't address my question. The other was more specific. From "Bill"- __"Hey Donn, This is a user to user public forum not a direct contact with HP. To contact HP for warranty support you can call directly. [Hey, Bill: As I wrote, "I purchased from Amazon". Not too likely that an HP warranty would apply here, is it]? __Bill: "HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook will not recognize bluetooth mouse z4000bb device. Bluetooth enabled. -which Chromebook do you have?" [Duh, THIS one, Bill -the HP-11, as indicated]. __I had intended on returning the mouse for credit, (which Amazon immediately authorized) -but my young computer-savvy son Brad, informed me that the old Mac PowerBook G-4 laptop, running OS 10.5, is Bluetooth equipped. I enabled Bluetooth, went through the process of Rodent Recogition, and discovered that this HP laser mouse tracks flawlessly. Therefore, a keeper! __As for the mouse itself: It has a nice full-sized feel. And very comfortable! The second battery gives it some additional "heft" that other devices lack. I only rated it two stars at first, because it didn't work for me. Had the description been more specific, I would have avoided the inconvenience on everyone's part. For those seeking a Bluetooth mouse to use on a device that WILL recognize it: I think you will be quite pleased with this product. UPDATE: On another website that also sells this mouse, in small print at the bottom of the description, this: "Compatible with Windows and Mac" Nothing about Google Chrome OS. I was able to speak with a technical rep at Google about this mouse and its compatibility with my wife's HP-11 Chromebook. THis is the verdict: THE HP X4000b BLUETOOTH MOUSE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE CHROMEBOOK. The Google O.S. does not have the drivers installed for this mouse to operate, and as most Chromebook owners have learned, Google does not allow ANY drivers or program to be uploaded. When I asked Alex if the Amazon Basics USB corded mouse would work, his answer was "Yes". So ordered. -(And now, having arrived, I can attest to that one, also: It works -right out of the box).

Well second best, the 1st one being the Apple magic mouse 2, but that's 4X as expensive as this. I bought this after a lot of research. The mouse is the perfect size, isn't too small and isn't too big to affect portability. The grip is superb and it tracks on any surface. Batteries included inside are supposed to last 9 months, but even if they don't you can easily take them out and change. The buttons feel sturdy and nice to click, there's a good amount of feedback. There's a nifty power saver feature in this mouse that disconnects it from the computer after a few minutes of inactivity. Any motion after that triggers a reconnect. I use it with my macBook pro and it connects without any problems. A friend of mine used it for a couple of days on a ubuntu laptop, worked flawlessly there as well.

I love this mouse. I had another one for a few years and I bought this one for my work computer. Works really well. Battery lasts fairly long. Connects easily.

As matter of the fact, I don't recommend purchasing it due to the frequent necessity of Bluetooth Reconnection.

Even came with batteries! Quick link to laptop internal bluetooth! No need for a USB port to be taken up to link to mouse. Impressive and quick to link.
