Exactly What I Was Hoping For!!
I remembered these paint-with-water books as being a lot of fun as a kid (20 years ago) but this wasn't any fun for my toddler. I remember ending up with a wet page so I was fine with that going into it but I remember feeling like I was painting and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the original page and a painted page as far as the color was concerned. Maybe I was less picky as a kid or maybe they really have gotten worse. I wasn't expecting a LOT but I was expecting SOMETHING.... My toddler didn't see the point of this and didn't enjoy it.UPDATE: We tried this again using a Q-tip instead of a paintbrush and it worked great!! Even though the pages are already colored, when he "paints" the colors get very vibrant and mix together so that the colors are different after wetting. For example, the trees are blue and yellow before painting, but the colors mix together to make green trees. It does not work unless there is a little bit of pressure in addition to the water. I think most of the people who were disappointed with this product were really disappointed with the paintbrush, but Q-tips work great and we always have lots on hand. My son is almost 2-1/2 and he isn't super thrilled with it yet, but I think that it will quickly become a favorite activity once he figures it out. I love that it is virtually mess-free. As others mentioned, it does saturate the whole page, but it is just water so I don't mind. When it dries, the colors are still very vibrant and my son loves leaving his projects on Daddy's dinner plate for Daddy to find when he sits down at the table.

Real quality in painting with just water
I'm reviewing this from the eyes of a 3 1/2 year old, so if you're looking at this book for an older child, they will like it even more! My grandson has been painting with water since he was two years old. I bought this book for him a few months ago because I like Fisher Price toys and had many of them for my own children. There are so many different colored paint dots on every page that he was amazed to see all the colors appear. Of course he smeared them all together, but it's the process not the product, right? The pages picture children doing many different park experiences so every child will enjoy just deciding which page to paint first. This book takes painting with water to a higher level than most books. In fact, I think I'm going to try a page myself.

Everything about these is better
I had an opportunity to compare this watercolor book to a "licensed cartoon character" one from the drug store, and wow! I had never realized that there was such a difference. These Fisher-Price watercolors are much nicer. The colors are brighter, there is more paint on the page, the paper is thicker and brighter, and the printing is clearer. The perforations are easier to tear. In fact, everything about these is better. It seemed like the red "paint" is a little slow to dissolve here (especially compared to the blue), but it works out fine in the end, especially for little kids, who aren't painting within the lines anyway.

Yeah... Super Lame
The picture shows two books - but I only got one. A $10 paint with water book! Ridiculous! And like other reviewers said, the pages already have "color" on them, you just wet the dots with your brush and smear the ink around. This is not how I remember paint with water books from when I was a kid. However, my mother-in-law found some old ones, and they have the ink dots too - so I guess it's all in what you remember. My kid had fun, but I was super disappointed by this. Wish I could give it 0 stars.

Cute Pictures; Bright Colors
Cute pictures. Colors show up nice and bright when "painted" with water. Color did stain fingers a bit; took a few hand washes to completely come out. Not sure about clothing; didn't get any color on clothes.

its ok
This toy is okay, but it is not quite as cool as the ones I remember as a little kid like 20 years ago. That was a bit disappointing. Oh well. It works just fine for my 2 y.o. nephew.

So Happy I Found This
It is so hard to find paint with water books in my local market. However, a check of Amazon.com revealed that several were available. All I did was tape a small "paint with water brush" to the front of the cover, and my niece had a super gift for each time she visited. This is a just add water gift, and even two year olds can "paint."

not what expected
I am so disappointed it shows two books but only comes with one. If I had known I would have bought a less expensive one. Now I just have one with bent corners and not very many pages. It was suppose to be for my granddaughter for easter.
