Great Price for a Decent Mixer
This mixer is a good buy. I find it to have sufficient power and I like that on low speed it is markedly lower. So many of the cheaper mixers have speeds that are hardly distinguishable from other speeds. A nice plus is the mixer can be stood up on its end. That is a very handy feature. It does come with a storage box that holds the mixer and the blades but I chucked it. I keep my mixer in a drawer and don't want to bother with the box. It operates smoothly and seems to be of decent quality and how can you beat the price? I consider it to be a good buy if you are looking for a simple but efficient mixer.

Small and powerful
Works really well! I bake often and this has been very useful. It has great power and doesn't take a lot of space. Love the different speeds. Definitely recommend!

Good product
This was bought as a replacement for my old hand mixer. I wish low speed was a bit slower, but it's not terrible. My only concern is that the beater eject button is the same as the one to turn the mixer on, so you MUST unplug the mixer to use the eject button or the mixer may turn on or you could have a mess. On the other hand, I have been able to just pull the beaters out of the mixer without even using the eject option. I don't know how good of an idea this approach is, though. I am very pleased with the beaters which are dishwasher safe, and are very heavy duty and seem sturdy - similar to my old mixer, which made it 40 years, so seems promising. It has good power, and the burst button adds a nice little boost of power. The little box to hold the beaters is nice, but it does not contain the cord inside when the mixer is placed on it without a fight because the cord is nice and long (yay!, but oh well. I'd rather have the nice cord. It does not stand on the bowl well, but this is also not the biggest problem in the world- it does it, just not well. The whisk seems solid so far, but I have not really used it yet. There is only one whisk beater. So overall, I am happy and planning to keep it. Hopefully it will go 40 years too!

Great First Mixer
This was my first mixer. I was inspired to get a hand held one after seeing it on Paula Dean's show and noticed how versatile it was compared to the counter top kind. It comes with two types of beaters. One that is a whisker and the other two are your standard kind. It has halved my preparation time for baked goods and I also find it useful for other miscellaneous things while I'm cooking as well.I also comes with a storage unit on the bottom where the beaters can be stored as well as the instruction manual. This was really helpful! It also made it more compact and easier to store under the counter top.The beaters themselves are really easy to clean and have maintained their shape despite heavy use. They are also much longer than my roommate's Sunbeam mixer which makes it handy to mix in a deep bowl. There are numerous speed settings that make it helpful for perhaps cooks with a higher range of mixing needs. I mainly put it on the low to 2 setting to mix dough. I think I may have brought it up a couple speeds higher to make mashed potatoes once. One thing I highly do not recommend if you want your mixer to last is to put it on a higher setting while you're mixing very viscous substances such as cookie dough or anything really thick and sticky. It can overheat your mixer. I mainly keep it on the low speed because it is easier to control that way. I don't have arms of steel so any higher than 3 and I'm fighting to keep it in the bowl. As another reviewer mentioned (her review is what pushed me over to get this mixer), it is meant for light-duty work. It can pass off for some medium to heavy duty work but just use your discretion. Burnt smells = Not good!Another reviewer mentioned chrome flecks in their batter. I have never had this problem before. I clean my beaters in dishwasher which can't be good for the long term and have used it quite a bit. I imagine that it may have to do with contact with acidity for a long time? I will update if anything starts breaking down.

Gets the job done, but I've noticed a few issues
I purchased this hand mixer to replace an old Proctor Silex branded one I bought 7-8 years ago for less than $10. I loved that hand mixer. I used it regularly and never had a problem with it in all the years I owned it. I wouldn't have replaced it if not for the fact the cord and plug was accidentally submerged in cooking oil. I didn't want to risk a fire hazard (even after cleaning), so I thought I'd upgrade to this Hamilton Beach mixer that had more speed options available.I gave this mixer a go because I was constantly searching for my beater attachments and I liked the snap on case it came with. Well, now that I've used it a few times, I have to say that it is just ok, not spectacular. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:* Carrying Case is Convenient* Slow speed is good for combining ingredients* I like that it comes with a whisk attachmentCons:* Heavier than my previous mixer, tiring my hand sooner than I would like* A fine dusting of cocoa powder or cinnamon coats the front of the mixer, even when used on low speed* The beaters are too close together, which makes thicker batter MUCH harder to dislodge from the beaters unless removed from the mixerSo while it's an OK mixer and gets the job done, I did prefer the less expensive mixer I had before to this one. I may consider buying something else.
